We are often asked, what is a domain name?
The "address" or URL of a particular Web site. This is also how you describe the name that is at the right of the @ sign in an Internet address. For example, netlingo.com is the domain name of this Internet dictionary. There is an organization called InterNIC that keeps people from registering the same name. Most recently, more domain names will be allowed due to new suffixes coming out. Although there are new suffixes coming out all the time, the standard, .com is still best to have. Most people will try that first, then perhaps go to other extensions.

Steps to Purchasing Your Own Domain Name:

- First you need to come up with a name that will work for you.
- Enter your choice in the box at the left.
(Be sure to have the select the choice of .com or.net from the drop down box.)
- If it comes back with "Available", you can go ahead let us know and we will be happy to register it for you if we are designing your website. If you are purchasing it for yourself for later use, you can do so below.

Now that you know what a domain is, you need to find one for your website that people will associate with your business. You may have to be creative, as domain names are sometimes hard to find that are available to still be used.
If you have us design your website, we will include "FREE" the first year's cost of the domain. (Value-$18)
After that time, we will renew your domain for you at the cost of $18 per year. |
If you wish to register a domain name through us, either for your own use, or future use, please submit through our domain registrar system.
Once you have registered your domain name, you can access your registration information and assign that domain to whatever server you need to.

What is DNS?
A database system that translates an IP address into a domain name. For example, a numeric IP address like 66.70.38.20 is converted into bcdservices.com. The DNS is a static, hierarchical name service and it uses TCP/IP hosts, and is housed on a number of servers on the Internet. Basically, it maintains this database for figuring out and finding (or resolving) host names and IP addresses. This allows users to specify remote computers by host names rather than numerical IP addresses. Also referred to as domain name service and domain name server.

Steps If You Already Own Your Domain Name:(URL Address)

- Go to the place you purchased your domain name.
- Login into your control panel.
When you purchased your domain name, you were probably sent a username and password.
- Choose to Update your DNS Information.
- Here is the information you will need to assign it to our server:
Name Server: NS0.BCDSERVICES.COM - Server Number: 66.70.38.23
Name Server: NS1.BCDSERVICES.COM - Server Number: 66.70.38.22
Some Registrars do not require both number and name,
so don't panic if you don't see both.

for us to login and change the information.
